"The Aviator" Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
 The score for one of the season’s most highly anticipated films, The Aviator will be released on January 11th on Decca/UMG Soundtracks. The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Kate Beckinsale and was directed by Martin Scorsese who is known as one of the greatest American filmmakers for directing movies such as Taxi Driver, and GoodFellas. The Aviator features original music composed, orchestrated and conducted by Academy Award®-winner Howard Shore, composer of the best-selling, award-winning Lord of the Rings soundtracks. Lending more than his musical talents to The Aviator score, Howard Shore brings forth a feeling of emotion that compliments Scorsese’s storytelling perfectly. The engaging score sparks a sense of adventure, discovery, sadness, loneliness and hope, making for a beautiful and memorable listening experience. Moviegoers will continue to be moved by Shore’s orchestral magic long after the credits have rolled. Formally educated at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Shore recorded with the group "Lighthouse" from 1969-1972 and served as one of the original creators of Saturday Night Live where he was Musical Director from 1975-1980. Howard Shore went on to compose music for many blockbusters including; Gangs of New York, The Silence of the Lambs and The Lord of the Rings trilogy for which he garnered three Academy Award® nominations and two wins for his Return of the King score. Shore’s music could also be heard on The Lord of the Rings Symphony tour, which premiered in Wellington, New Zealand in November 2003. The symphony provided an extension of the history- making movie experiences, taking audiences back to Middle Earth with the composer’s Oscar-winning score. Shore personally conducted the orchestra on many of the concert dates. Miramax Films presents The Aviator, a story of aviation pioneer Howard Hughes (DiCaprio), the eccentric billionaire industrialist and Hollywood film mogul, famous for romancing some of the world's most beautiful women. The drama recounts the years of his life from the late 1920s through the 1940s, an epoch when Hughes was directing and producing Hollywood movies and test flying innovative aircrafts he designed and created. The Aviator opens in select cities on December 17 and opens wide on Christmas Day. ###
